![]() whim-si-cal [hwim-zi-kuh l] -a djective1. given to whimsy or fanciful notions; capricious 2. full of or characterized by whims 3. oddly out of the ordinary; fanciful; erratic; unpredictable That is the definition of Whimsical. But who is Whimsicals? We are a small business consisting of myself, Terri Degenkolb, and my husband Tom (who by the way is employed full time as an engineer), operating from our home where I design and sew my quilts, bags, hats, and other fun things, which then make it into books published by us. But, you are probably wondering (as I do some days) how we even got here..... where it all started.... who we really are.... all that fun stuff. So, here’s a little background.... Growing up in a small rural Midwestern town gave me tons of opportunities to experience a simple childhood where my imagination was my constant companion. Surrounded by cats, dogs, horses, chickens, and lots of corn fields, I spent countless hours sewing, sketching, writing, and wandering the woods. Looking back, it was a great childhood. So, fast forward through my college years (where I earned a Bachelors degree from Purdue University in Retail Management), our early years of marriage (where we worked many hours just to make ends meet), and the early years of having children (when God blessed us with two wonderful boys), to a moment in time when I suddenly realized that I belonged at home, watching my kids grow up, instead of in an office, watching the clock tick slowly by. I quit my job soon after that and reaquainted myself with an old friend (my sewing machine) when my mom helped me make my first quilt. The rest, as they say, is history. Although I never co nsidered myself an artist, I somehow have been blessed to find that “creating” is my passion and gift. Whether it be with fabric as a new quilt design unfolds, with paints on a canvas or a mouse and a computer as I design a new fabric line, or with words on a screen as I lay out and write a new book, it’s the process of bringing something to life that brings me joy. In reality, I am a mom, I am a wife, I am a business owner, I am a graphic designer, I am a writer, and I am a quilter. Some may even say I am an artist. And it is all of these things woven together that makes me who I am today. So, who is Whimsicals? That would be me. ![]() For retail orders within the United States.... less than $ 25 . . . . . . . $ 2 For International orders.... less than $ 12 . . . . . . . . $ 4 For Canadian orders.... less than $ 12 . . . . . . . . $ 4
